A 64-year-old man, O’Neal Jordan was earlier this week charged with manslaughter committed on his 54-year-old brother, Winston Jordan called ‘Shabba’, at Den Amstel, West Coast Demerara.
O’Neil, also known as “Owie”, appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court last Tuesday via Skype before Her Worship Zameena Ali Seepaul. The charge was read to him, but he was not required to plead. He was however placed on bail in the sum of $400,000. The case has been adjourned for report on January 27, 2021. The Charge was laid under section 94 of the Criminal Law Offences Act, Chapter 8:01.
According to police reports, the duo was consuming alcohol on September 24, when Winston decided to leave the company of his brother. O’Neal reportedly followed Winston, held on to him and began tugging.
Winston fell to the ground, hit his head on the road and lost consciousness. O’Neal then reportedly dragged his brother across the street, threw him into a trench and refused to render assistance.
The motionless body of the man was pulled from the trench by two passersby. He was pronounced dead at the Leonora Cottage Hospital.
