Alan Sim who is accused of murdering his child’s mother, was this afternoon found guilty of the crime by a jury and was thereafter sentenced to 60 years’ imprisonment by Justice Navindra Singh.
Sim, 60, who was represented by Attorney-at-Law Adrian Thompson, had initially denied the charge which alleged that on Monday, November 23, 2015, at Georgetown, he murdered Melissa Skeete, called Lisa, an ambulance dispatcher at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Based on reports, the two share a child together. On the day in question, Sim showed up at the woman’s workplace in his motorcar and picked her up. Sometime later, Skeete,31, was found lying on the roadway in the vicinity of Carmichael Street, Georgetown bleeding profusely from several stab wounds. She died while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Sim only becomes eligible for parole after serving a minimum of 40 years.
