Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body yesterday about 9pm at Third Street, Mon Repos Pasture, East Coast Demerara.
The deceased has been identified as 65-year-old, Astraf Ali, a pensioner of lot 173 Mon Repos Pasture.
Enquiries so far disclosed that the victim was seen lying on the road’s surface motionless with injuries about his body and a reddish substance which appeared to be blood around him. The Police and the ambulance were summoned.
The victim was then placed into the ambulance and escorted to Georgetown Public Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who pronounced him dead.
The body is presently at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a Port Mortem Examination.
