As of today, the number of COVID-19 cases in Guyana is 5,005. These cases have accumulated over an eight-month period. Guyana confirmed its first imported case back in mid-March, with patient-zero succumbing to effects brought on by the illness.
The number of new cases recorded, according to the Health Ministry’s surveillance report, is 29.
The death toll remains at 143, while recoveries have increased to 3,984. This means that there are over 800 active cases.
Of the 5,005 confirmed cases, 2,612 are men with 2,393 females.
A total of 768 persons are in home isolation, 101 in institutional isolation and 73 in institutional quarantine.
Some 26,580 persons would have been tested since March.
Region Four currently has the highest number of confirmed cases with 2,390, followed by Region One, 829, and Region Seven recording 422.
