On Tuesday evening, four persons were beaten and robbed by two armed bandits along the Meten-Meer-Zorg Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
The victims are 25-year-old Shiradatt Ramlall, 33-year-old Aneela Raghemoudan, 25-year-old Paul Jaipaul, and 29-year-old Lohouna Rakesh Pitamber.
According to information received, at about 18:30hrs, the quartet was heading home when two identifiable male approached them on a red and white XR motorcycle on the Meten-Meer-Zorg Public Road, WCD.
Reports are that one of the bandits, who was wearing a white vest, took out a silver object, which appeared to be a gun, and dealt Ramlall, Jaipaul, and Pitamber lashes about their faces.
The bandits relieved Ramlall of two cell phones, while Raghemoudan lost a Samsung J7 cellphone valued at $35,000 and $3000 cash.
They took from Jaipaul a yellow metal chain, one yellow metal ring valued at $90,000, and one blu cell phone valued at $20,000. Pitamber lost a Samsung cellphone valued at 7,000 and $45,000.
The men then made good their escape on the XR motorcycle in an unknown direction.
A police report was made, and a search was conducted within the area, and two 23-year-old males of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), were found along with a motorcycle fitting the description. They were taken into custody, pending an investigation.
