A 43-year-old woman is now dead while two others are injured following an accident on the Britannia Public Road, West Coast Berbice, this morning.
Dead is Deoranie Sukhram of Lot Dundee, West Coast Berbice. The accident occurred at about 06:20 hrs.
The minibus driver, Ukhram Tillack, reportedly told investigators that he was proceeding east along the northern driveway when he lost control of the minibus while negotiating a turn.
Guyana Standard understands that after losing control, the minibus bearing registration number BPP 7638 collided with a concrete fence before coming to a halt. The roadway was wet due to heavy downpours.
As a result of the accident, Tillack, another passenger, and Sukhram were rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital. However, Sukhram was pronounced dead on arrival. She was the passenger in the front seat. Investigations are ongoing.
