The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has reached out to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to provide assistance in the Henry Boys and Haresh Singh’s murder investigations. This was recently conveyed by President, Irfaan Ali.
“First of all let me say that the Government has facilitated the RSS (Regional Security System); in some component of the investigation I know the Police Force has reached out to the FBI and that is a continued collaboration. The investigation is ongoing and the Police would determine and advise me on what additional help is needed.”
The Head of State made this assertion while fielding questions from journalists on whether his Government will be taking up the offer of assistance by the Argentine Forensic Anthropologist, to assist in the probe of the killing of the teens.
The President emphasised too that it is not a matter of if the Government is or is not in favour of leaning on the expertise of the Argentine; but rather, they are awaiting the advice of the Police on what additional help is needed.
“I have told the Police that whatever additional help they need and we can facilitate, we will,” he said.
The President’s comments come days after an Argentine Forensic Expert, Dr Luis Fondebrider, who was brought to Guyana by the Guyana Human Rights Authority to assist in the probe departed. The expert had requested information from the GPF, however it is unclear whether those documents were made available.
The Argentine expert was brought into Guyana after the Henry family expressed dissatisfaction with the probe.
Three months have already elapsed since the severely mutilated remains of cousins: 16-year-old Isaiah and 19-year-old Joel Henry were found aback Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice.
Seventeen-year-old Haresh Singh was found dead some days later. Singh is a relative of three of the suspects who were in custody for the killing of the Henry boys. His death was seen as an act of reprisal.
