The police are on the hunt for two men, one of whom dropped an unlicensed firearm on the Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, in the vicinity of Penny Lane.
Reports are that ranks of Regional Division 4 ‘A’ were on patrol when they heard an explosion, suspected to be a gunshot sound.
As a result, they made their way into Penny Lane and west into a street where they observed a silver/grey fielder wagon motorcar from which two identifiable males exited, one of whom was armed with a black handgun.
Upon seeing the ranks, the car was quickly driven away, while the two men ran into a nearby yard. The lawmen chased after the men who jumped a concrete fence and made good their escape in a western direction.
The Glock 17 pistol with four live 9mm rounds of ammunition was picked up by ranks and lodged. Investigations are ongoing.
