A 26-year-old woman was this morning burnt alive when her family’s house went up in flames.
Dead is Krystle Chung of Lot 8 Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD). She was reportedly a staff member at Massy Motors Guyana Ltd.
Guyana Standard understands that Chung lived with her parents and sister. Her family managed to escape the building with minor burns to their bodies.
Reports are that the fire started in Chung’s bedroom while she was asleep. She tried to escape but was trapped in the room as the fire ripped through the two-storey building’s entire upper flat.
It is unclear at this time what may have caused the fire, but investigations are ongoing.
