Home Affairs Minister, Robeson Benn says that despite doubts expressed in the Guyana Police Force (GPF)’s ability to solve the Henry Boys’ murder, it still managed to drag three before the courts for the gruesome double murder.
This morning, Akash “Monkey” Singh, Vinod “Magga” Gopaul, and Anil “Dan Pole” Sanchara appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court for the September 2020 murder of Joel and Isiah Henry. The police claim to have obtained a confession from one of the suspects. Guyana Standard understands that another suspect is being sought.
Minister Benn told media officials that notwithstanding the “attempts” made to “interfere and confuse” the probe, the issue appears to have been resolved. The minister rapped detractors for “malicious suggestions” made about the case since September and doubts expressed in the GPF’s ability to solve the case.
“Despite all of the critique we’ve heard out in the media and other places, I think the issue, given its nature and the places where the events occurred, I think that the issue appears to have been fairly, quickly resolved,” he said.
Benn’s statement contrasts sentiments expressed by Opposition Leader, Joseph Harmon, this morning, who said he is hopeful that the men being charged are “the right people”.
