Paul Watson of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, a former member of the Guyana Police Force was today granted bail by Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Providence Magistrate Court.
It is alleged that during the month of February, he allegedly collected $420,000 by pretending to be in a position to get the the virtual complainant a firearm license.
He was represented by attorney-at-law Bernard DaSilva. He was placed on $100,000 bail and will make his next court appearance on April 27.
Watson was on Tuesday arrested for obtaining money by pretending that he was in a position to assist an individual in obtaining a firearm license.
Watson, who is attached to a private security service, has been previously charged by the police for matters of a similar nature.
The police had indicated to the public that other persons who may have been defrauded by Watson under the same circumstances are asked to come forward and report the matter to the nearest police station.
