A partly decomposed body of a man was found around 13:45hrs today, between rocks at the western bank of the Demerara River in the vicinity of Belleview.
The body was clad in a dark-grey long pants and a burgundy jersey.
The state of decomposition made it difficult to establish the man’s identity. Police, however, said that the man appeared to be mix-race and in his forties.
Several persons around the area were questioned but no “useful information” was recieved, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said.
The body was taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, where it is awaiting identification and post-mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
