Public servants attached to Guyana Power and Light (GPL) have mounted protest in front of their Main Street office earlier today. The demonstration highlights their frustration resulting from not receiving the pay increase for which they bargained. Workers lament that while GPL Directors were given 12% pay increase, they, who worked throughout the pandemic, were given nothing. Some workers are willing to accept as little as a 5% increase.
