The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) yesterday activated its Volunteer Corps to assist in providing support and relief to the residents impacted by the recent floods across the country. In a meeting, the volunteers were briefed on what is expected of them during this period as it relates to Disaster Management and Response. The Director-General of the CDC, Lieutenant Colonel Kester Craig, thanked the volunteers for their continued contributions and explained the exigent circumstances surrounding their current mobilization.
Volunteers were told to be ready for; emergency monitoring and responses, deployment to various Regions, packing of hampers, and shelter management.
The CDC will continue to monitor all areas across Guyana during this prolonged rainy season and encourages anyone willing to assist to register as a volunteer with the Corps.
