On Wednesday 23rd, June, 2021, a Customs Anti-narcotic Unit (CANU) Officer conducted a search of a box at the Guyana Post Office, containing head ties, jersey, soaps and 2 bottles of lotion, and discovered cannabis and suspected crystal methamphetamine concealed within false walls of the lotion bottles.
The narcotics amounted to 6.3 grams of Cannabis, and 5.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
Andrea De Florimote a 37-year-old housewife of Victoria street,
Plaisance East Coast Demerara, was intercepted when she attempted to post the box containing the said narcotics to an inmate of the Mazaruni Prison.
The suspect was told of the offence committed, arrested, cautioned and escorted to CANU HQ.
Investigations further revealed that De Florimote collected the lotion bottle with the narcotics from Patrinea Bristol, a 46-year-old vendor of Avocado Drive, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown. She was arrested and brought to CANU HQ.
Today, Patrinea Bristol and Andrea De Florimote were charged and placed before your worship Leron Daily where they pleaded not
guilty to the charge, they were placed on $60,000 bail each, the matter was adjourned to 27th August 2021.
