A Partnership for National Unity’s (APNU) Member of Parliament, Jermaine Figueira was appointed Chairman of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee. He replaces his colleague, David Patterson. Some months ago, Figueira had said that he was not interested in the position as he believed Patterson was the fittest person for job. However, following the government’s removal of Patterson via a successful motion passed in the National Assembly, Figueira is now ready and willing to take up the mantle. Chairing this important committee is a major upgrade for the young Lindener who is on his second term as a parliamentarian. His appointment was made today.
