Crime Chief, Senior Superintendent Wendell Blanhum has indicated that, contrary to what was reported with regards to the Haresh Singh murder case file, “at no time whatsoever was the file missing”. The Crime Chief said the investigators were in possession of the file doing some additional work.
The said file was later handed over Junior Police Legal Advisor, Mandel Moore who is now prosecuting the matter.
According to the Crime Chief, this is not a strange occurrence. He noted that daily, in the criminal court, once a file is being completed by the investigators, it remains in their possession. When it is completed it is then forwarded to the court prosecutor for court presentation.
Singh, also known as ‘Raj’, of Lot 8, Number 3 Village, West Coast Berbice was found with head injuries along the Number 2 backdam on September 9th, 2020 – three days after the severely mutilated remains of 16-year-old Isaiah and Joel Henry, 19, were found aback the Cotton Tree Village. His motorcycle was torched.
The post-mortem examination performed on the teen by Government Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh, revealed the cause of death to be brain hemorrhage and blunt trauma to the head, compounded by compression injuries to the neck.
Controversy now surrounds the matter since a relative of the Henry boys was arrested for Singh’s murder. That individual’s lawyer is arguing that his client has alibis. Those persons who claim to have seen the suspect at the time of Singh’s murder, have also been pulled in for questioning.
