A former SuperBet employee was this morning charged with embezzling over $300,000 in her boss’ name.
20-year-old Shenica Mingo made her first appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ courts today, when Senior Magistrate Leron Daly granted her bail after she denied an embezzlement by clerk or servant charge.

It is alleged that on August 5, 2021, at Rasville, Burnham Gardens Georgetown, while being a clerk or servant employed at SuperBet, she fraudulently embezzled $317,000, taking in to possession by herself, in the name or on the account of her employer.

After entering a not guilty plea, Mingo’s attorney told the court that the young woman could be considered a minor, and for this reason she should be granted bail.
However, the Court Prosecutor objected to the woman’s bail. He told the court that Mingo was charged with a similar offense when she was 16. He further requested that if bail is granted, the woman be required to lodge her passport with the court and report to the East Ruimveldt Police Station.

The Magistrate then released Mingo on $100,000 bail with the conditions suggested by the Prosecutor. The matter was adjourned until September 10.
