The Ministry of Health (MOH) has informed that as of August 13, 2021, three more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 573.
The patients were admitted with COVID-19 like symptoms but died while receiving care at medical institutions. Samples were taken at the time of admission which subsequently returned positive tests.
The latest fatalities are two women, ages 54 and 47 from Regions Four and Three respectively, and a 65-year-old, Region Four man.
Guyana has also recorded an additional 111 cases of the virus, taking the number of infections since March 2020 to 23,455.
