Recently released from a sentence, Andrew Ridley, 29, is returning to prison after being remanded for a break and enter and robbery charge.
Ridley, a labourer of Lot 173 Campbell Street, Albouystown, was hauled before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts this morning when he pleaded not guilty to the charge. It is alleged that between August 11, and August 12, at Lot 59 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he broke into the dwelling house of Ayanna McKeen, and stole items including textbooks, a cellphone and bags, amounting to $70,240.
Ridley told the court that he was wrongfully accused. However, Police Prosecutor Annalisa Brummell told the court that the man was recently released from jail after serving an 18-month sentence for a similar offense.
She further said that Ridley has other matters that are being investigated at the police station. These matters are discharge of firearm and attempted murder, she said.
After hearing about the other investigations and confirmation from Ridley that he was released from prison just over two months ago, the Magistrate denied him bail.
The matter was adjourned until August 30.
