Six armed men on motorcycles yesterday stormed an ‘Ital’ shop at Annandale, East Coast Demerara, and robbed patrons there while they watched television and played cards.
The robbery took place around 22:20hrs, police said.
All of the victims are from Buxton, East Coast Demerara.
A 32-year-old male was relieved of one Samsung cellphone valued at $23,000 and one Eagle wallet valued at $2000 which contained one ID card, and $16,500 cash. A 28-year-old man was robbed of one black Samsung Galaxy 8 plus cellphone valued at $70,000, while another 27-year-old man was relieved of one iPhone 8plus valued at $70,000. Another patron was robbed of
one 13 pennyweight gold chain valued $70,000, while another was relieved of one Samsung J3 Star cellphone, and one 12 pennyweight gold chain valued at $70,000.
Enquiries disclosed that the victims were at the said Ital food shop watching television while playing a game of cards when the suspects approached, held them at gunpoint, and relieved them of the said items.
A female was among the robbers, police said. She remained on the motorcycle while the robbery was being committed.
The suspects then got on their motorcycles and made good their escape in the western direction on four motorcycles.
They remain at large. Investigations are ongoing.
