Sadiq Mohamed, 65, of Lot 27 Grant 1802 Crabwood Creek Corentyne, Berbice, will spend the next two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to breaking and entering a place of worship.
Mohammed allegedly broke into the Springlands’ Sanatan Mandir sometime between September 5 and 10, and carted off a quantity of kitchen utensils and other items valued $320,000.
The charge was laid under Section 232 (a) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01, when he appeared at Springlands Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Renita Singh via Skype.
He was then sentenced to two years’ imprisonment.
