Seventy-six-year-old George Welsh of No.50 Village, Corentyne Berbice was found dead in his home yesterday. He is believed to have died sometime between September 13 and 19.
Guyana Standard understands that Welsh, who lived alone, was suffering from diabetes and other illnesses. A neighbour told investigators that Welsh appeared to be of good health when he was last seen around 09:00hrs on his stairway on September 13.
On September 19, around 17:00hrs, the neighbour said he called out for Welsh but got no reply. He then made checks and found the pensioner lying motionless. He subsequently raised an alarm and the police were summoned.
Police have ruled out foul play, but investigations are ongoing.
