Kevin Samsudeen, 33, died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation on Thursday around 07:25hrs from a stab wound he received from his 28-year-old neighbour yesterday at the Parika Sea Dam, East Bank Essequibo.
The suspect has since been apprehended.
He was told of the allegation made against him and was cautioned. He told police: “he (Samsudeen) does always beat me, and me family don’t want me go station, so me get fed up and bore he”.
He remains in custody at the Leonora Police Station as investigations continue.
Samsudeen was stabbed on Wednesday night around 23:00hrs.
Enquiries disclosed that the suspect went home intoxicated and told his 61-year-old mother that he wants his food and she told him to serve himself.
He became annoyed and threw the pot with the food to the ground and started to abuse her verbally.
Samsudeen, who lives next door, heard the commotion and went over to caution the suspect to desist from doing same but he continued.
The suspect then asked Samsudeen if he wants to do something about it and he (Samsudeen) replied “if you want do something come do it”.
The suspect, who was armed with a black knife, walked up to the victim and dealt him one stab to the abdomen and made good his escape.
