Twenty-two-year-old Ralph Rodrigues of Lot 1 West Canefield East Canje Berbice, faced an attempted murder charge yesterday.
The man is accused of trying to kill his sibling, Raul Rodrigues, a 29-year-old Police Constable of Central Police Station.
He appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Reliance Magistrate’s Court, where the indictable charge was read to him and he was not required to plea.
The accused was remanded to the New Amsterdam Prison and the case was adjourned to November 10, 2021, for report.
Raul Rodrigues was stabbed on October 25, 2021, at Canefield Settlement, East Canje, during a row with the accused and his brother-in-law.
According to reports, the cop was stabbed several times to his abdomen and once to his right leg.
