Double- murder accused, Kapildeo Gangadin, who escaped the Lusignan Prison, East Coast Demerara, five days ago, has been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.
He was captured in a bus at Onderneeming, West Bank Demerara while heading to Parika, East Bank Essequibo, one day after his escape.
The 24-year-old appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore yesterday to answer to the charge. He pleaded guilty before being sentenced.
Gangadin is accused of allegedly stabbing to death young businessman, Ganesh Persaud during a robbery on October 15th, 2021. He was remanded to prison two weeks ago. The 24-year-old was also charged with the 2020 murder of Mukesh Mangra.
