Police yesterday destroyed 60,000 plants and 600lbs of dried cannabis at the Upper Berbice River in the Ebini area.
The officers found four fields covering approximately 10 acres of land.
The plants ranged from six inches to 10 feet in height.
Upon arrival at one of the fields, a man upon seeing the police made good his escape into the bushes.
A total of five camps were destroyed by fire, along with the said cannabis plants.
