Mentally ill man confesses to stealing businessman’s carSalick Sohan, a 42-year-old Bushy Park, East Bank Essequibo businessman parked his motorcar in his yard yesterday afternoon, leaving the keys inside and went upstairs. Shortly after, he returned and discovered that his vehicle was missing. As a result, an alarm was raised and the Police was informed.
Acting on information received, ranks went to Vergenoegen, where the said vehicle was found, parked in front of a home at Mc Watt Street.
Contact was then made with a man who was lying in a hammock in the said yard, who immediately admitted to taking the car. He was told of the allegation, cautioned and taken into custody.
Further investigations revealed that the suspect is mentally ill and is a patient at Dr. Harry’s Clinic.
The victim later arrived on the scene and identified the vehicle which was handed over to him. Damages were seen to the front left side bumper and fender.
