A 30-year-old male street dweller from Leonora, West Coast Demerara (WCD) was murdered two days ago, police said in a statement today.
Investigations revealed that the man would usually be in the market where he also sleeps.
A resident in the community disclosed to police ranks that he heard someone shout his name on the night in question. As a result, he had exited his house and his handyman told him that a street dweller was chopped up in the market.
As he was heading into the market, he saw a man with a cutlass in his hand walking away from the scene.
The victim was then taken to West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was treated for wounds to his head, hands and shoulder. Unfortunately, he succumbed to the injuries.
Checks were made for the suspect but he was not located.
