Two minors are among four sisters who were today charged over the stabbing of a 16-year-old girl at Cummings Street, Georgetown.
Evelyn Alfonso, 22, Roxanna Alfonso, 20, both Venezuelan and two other minors, were brought before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. The four girls were jointly charged with attempted murder.
The particulars of the charge state that on 28 January, 2022, at Cummings Street, Georgetown, while being in the company or others with intent to commit murder, they wounded a 16-year old girl.
According to the police facts, the victim was at Cummings Street in the company of her Aunt when she was confronted by the four persons charged.
The police said that she had a previous altercation with two of the girls. It is further alleged that the four accused were armed with bricks and two of them were armed with knives. A scuffle ensued and during the scuffle, the girl was stabbed twice to her neck by one of the accused, a 14-year-old. She was then rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was admitted as a patient.
The four accused have been remanded. The two minors will be sent to the Juvenile holding centre at Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
