Police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a male body which was found in the South Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) area yesterday about 14:05hrs.
Ten minutes before the discovery, an anonymous caller contacted the Sparendaam Police Station via telephone and reported that a corpse was seen. On arrival at the location, police saw the body of a man of African descent, whose identification is unknown at this time. He reportedly does odd jobs in the area and is of no fixed place of abode.
The body was examined and a decomposed open wound measuring six inches was observed on the left thigh. The body was escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital where Dr. Jagjit pronounced it dead on arrival.
The body was later escorted to the Memorial Funeral Home awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.
