Police in Regional Division #3 are investigating an alleged Robbery Under Arms committed on a 34-year-old housewife of Zeelugt New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo which occurred in the wee hours of this morning by two unidentified males.
The woman alleges that about 02:00hrs she was robbed of $500,000 cash by the perpetrators after being awoken by a strange sound in her home.
When she opened her eyes, she saw the two suspects at her bedside demanding that she hand over cash.
She further alleges that she became fearful for her life and surrendered the money to one of the suspects who was armed with a gun. The suspects then ran out of her bedroom and made good their escape in an unknown direction.
The matter was reported to the police and investigations are in progress.
