Police are investigating the murder of Carlos DeShawn Waithe, 24, a clothes vendor of lot 2 Norton Street Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, which occurred on about 04:00hrs this morning at Leopold Street between Breda and Smyth Streets, Georgetown.
According to police investigators, the now deceased and several friends were consuming alcohol earlier in the night in Charlestown, after which, Waithe told them that he was leaving for a popular bar.
About 04:00hours, Waithe showed up at a popular bar on Breda Street in the company of an identifiable male, who became involved in an argument with several men, which caused him to run east on Leopold Street towards Smyth Street. The men gave chase and gunshots were heard.
Waithe subsequently ran behind the men saying “y’all can’t shoot da man” and an argument ensued which led to him being shot twice.
The injured man was picked up and taken to Woodlands Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
No one has been arrested so far, as police investigations continue.
