Over 5,000 Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) applications have been processed as of February 9, 2022. Professor Jacob Opadeyi, GOAL’s Director, said the figure represents an interest in Guyanese to advance their academic and professional ambition
The scholarship initiative was conceived by President Irfaan Ali as an investment in the country’s human capital to ensure competencies in a burgeoning oil and gas economy.
Over 180 programmes will be offered through collaboration with fifteen universities this year, and range from Certificate courses to PhDs in various sectors, including food and beverage, agriculture, arts, health care management, oil and gas management, education development, engineering management among several others.
According to Professor Opadeyi, the programmes are aligned with the future of Guyana and encourage Guyanese to take up the opportunity to build and expand their professional and academic portfolios.
“We have programmes for all academic backgrounds; even if you have no formal qualifications, there are programmes available for you,” he added. “All the programmes and their eligibility criteria are listed on our website www.goal.edu.gy.”
All potential applicants are encouraged to carefully peruse the eligibility criteria before selecting their programmes of choice. Furthermore, applicants are advised to register and apply using a tablet, laptop, or desktop computer since the uploading of mandatory documents will prove difficult using mobile phones.
The deadline for the application process is Friday, February 18, 2022.
Applicants who need further guidance and support can contact GOAL’s personnel at 222-5391, 222-5394, or 222-5395 without delay.
