The once notorious Tyrone Rowe, called ‘Cobra’, will, on Monday (October 15, 2018), face a second trial over the August, 2010 murder of Troy Collymore.
Rowe, who is about 25 years of age now, was arrainged before Justice Sandil Kissoon this morning at the High Court in George, where a 12 member jury was empaneled.
The murder accused, who has retained Attorney-at-Law George Thomas, was informed by the judge of his trial date.
Back in 2013, Rowe, who was 20, and of Albouystown, was convicted of the August 5, 2010 murder of Collymore.
He was jailed 78 years, and shortly after sought an appeal. His appeal was accepted, and in July, the Court of Appeal overturned his conviction and sentencing.
As a result, Rowe’s case was remitted to the High Court for a new trial. This time around, Prosecutor Lisa Cave is presenting the State’s case.
According to reports, on the day in question, Collymore and two other men were outside a business place at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara when they were attacked by gunmen.
During that time, one of them was shot and relieved of cash and a quantity of jewellery. Collymore was shot to the head and was declared ‘brain dead’ by doctors. He succumbed two days later.
