Noble House Seafoods Limited says it has launched an internal probe to determine the cause of an offshore mishap last Saturday that resulted in three of its employees going missing and feared dead.

Notwithstanding its probe, the company said in a statement tonight, that is it stands ready to participate in any other potential investigation.

The Public Works Ministry has already signalled its intention to investigate the matter and a search party was recently deployed. The ministry has not issued another statement since.

The boat is believed to have capsized in coastal waters some 18 miles off Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

The ministry has assured that all available resources of the State to aid in this search and rescue exercise will be fully utilized.

An independent panel was established comprising representatives of the Ministry of Public Works, Maritime Administration Department, the Guyana Defense Force Coast Guard, the Guyana Police Force Marine Unit, and the Transport and Harbours Department.

The missing men have been identified as 44-year-old Harold Damon, who was the Captain of the vessel; 78-year-old Ronald Burton; and Winston Sam, 47.

Guyana Standard understands that a fourth crew member, who survived the incident, was rescued by another boat and was brought to shore Saturday afternoon.
