Police have arrested a male suspect after it was reported that he allegedly gun-butted another and fired several shots at the injured man about 23:30hrs last night at the Parika Fisheries compound, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
Regional police say the victim alleges that the perpetrator approached him and enquired about the whereabouts of another, but after he was ignored, he became angry and pulled out what appeared to be a .38 revolver and lashed the victim to his face.
The victim managed to flee the area but mentioned that he heard three loud explosions like gunshots whilst getting away.
A report was made at the Parika Police Station and acting on information, ranks went to a Parika Stelling Road property where the suspect was apprehended. He remains in custody as further investigations continue.
