A 19-year-old Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden resident was killed last night after he tried to save his neighbour from receiving a sound trashing from her husband.
The deceased has been identified as Nyron Vyphuis, a labourer of Circuit Ville, Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden Highway. He was stabbed to the left side of his stomach and died at the scene of the crime.
The 40-year-old suspect has since been arrested and the murder weapon has been retrieved.
According to information received, the teen’s neighbours got into a fight around 19:00 hrs last night. In a bid to rescue the woman from the domestic abuse, the young Vyphuis went into the couple’s yard and tried to talk to the suspect.
The Guyana Standard was told that the suspect reportedly got angry and picked up a knife—stabbing the victim to the stomach.
The suspect’s wife reportedly ran for her life. Residents informed the police and the suspect was arrested at his home while the deceased’s body was taken to the Linden Hospital where he was officially pronounced dead.
The body is currently at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a Post Mortem examination.
