Detectives in Regional Division 4B are investigating the alleged murder of 19-year-old Shenese Walks, a teacher of lot 311 Craig Public Road, East Bank Demerara.

The alleged murder reportedly occurred between 15:30hrs on April 12 and 11:45hrs the following day at the mentioned address.

Reports are that the now dead woman and the suspect, who resided at the said address, had a misunderstanding on April 12 at about 15:30hrs. The woman then armed herself with a knife. In the process of taking away the knife, the suspect stabbed her to the left side of her neck.

The suspect, whom cops said became afraid, secured the house and went away. The following day, about 08:00hrs, he contacted his brother and told him what transpired. The suspect’s brother along with an aunt escorted him to the Grove Police Station, where he was handed over to the police.

Police ranks and the suspect visited the scene, where the teen was observed dressed in a white strip top with long blue pants, lying on her back, beside a bed with a knife stuck in her left side neck.

The woman’s body was subsequently escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem examination.

The 21-year-old suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
