A motorcyclist, who was involved in a fatal accident on the East Bank Public Road last month, was this afternoon charged and released on $400,000 bail.
He was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Daniel Forester, 20, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
He denied the charge which alleged that on September 12,2018, at Bagostown Public Road, East Bank Demerara, he drove motorcycle CJ 6345 in a manner dangerous to the public thereby causing the death of Shawn Bruce.
Forester was represented by Attorney-at-Law, Jed Vasconcellous who, in a successful bail application, told the court that his client has an unblemished record and will return to court for the trial.
Facts presented by Police Prosecutor, Simone Payne stated that on September 12,last at around 07:50 hrs, Forester was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway of the Bagotstown Public Road, at a fast rate.
The court heard that Forester collided with Bruce who was crossing the road. They both fell to the ground in an unconscious state.
Both persons were picked up and rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where Bruce was pronounced dead on arrival and Forester was admitted a patient.
The matter was then reported, an investigation was carried out hence Forester was charged for the offence.
Prosecutor Payne did not oppose to bail being granted to Forester, hence Magistrate McLennan released him on $400,000 bail.
His licensed was also suspended until the hearing and determination of the trial.
Forester was instructed to make his next court appearance on November 1, 2018 for commencement of the trial.
