A woman who recently tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony was killed in a horrific accident this afternoon at Beehive, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The deceased has been identified as Keiolla Thomas of Clonbrook, East Coast Demerara. She died while receiving treatment at the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital.
The police officer who was driving the car that killed Thomas has been detained.
According to information received, the deceased was traveling in the car with the policeman when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a utility pole. The car then ended up in a nearby canal.
Both Thomas and the policeman were pulled from the vehicle and rushed to the hospital where the new bride later succumbed to her injuries.
