The Corriverton woman who allegedly murdered her reputed husband on New Year’s Day was charged with the offence of manslaughter today.
It is alleged that on January 1, at Middle Street Princetown Corriverton, 25 year-old Lakeisha Garnette, armed with a knife, stabbed 25 year-old Jason Bownath.
She was not required to plead to the indictable charge when she was arraigned at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh.
Garnette was denied bail and remanded to prison until February 17. Police say that earlier in the day, the couple had an argument in which Bownath allegedly slapped his reputed wife.
The woman reportedly left the event they attended and Bownath followed her home where another argument ensued. She reportedly stabbed Bownath during the process.
