Region Three Detectives are probing a fatal accident that occurred yesterday on the Wales Public Road, West Bank Demerara (WBD). Dead is 23-year-old Romano Ramdeen, a resident of Patentia, W.B.D.
The incident occurred at about 23:00hrs on Thursday night and involved motorcycle CK 1359, driven at the time by Ramdeen, and a container situated on the western side of the road.
Enquiries revealed that the 23-year-old was proceeding north on the western side of the Wales Public Road allegedly at a fast rate of speed when he lost control of the said motorcycle and collided with the container which was stationary on the western grass parapet.
As a result of the collision, the cyclist was flung into the container, receiving several injuries to his head and body.
He was picked up by public-spirited persons in an unconscious state and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body is presently at Ezekiel Funeral Parlor awaiting a post-mortem examination.
