The infamous “Doctor Who” is now a free man after the prosecution in his trial failed to produce witnesses for the commencement of the inquiry.
Mikhail McLeanon appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman on Monday. He was given a slap on the wrist after the prosecution requested more time to put its case together.
Magistrate Latchman however disapproved and informed McLeanon that his case will be dismissed due to the lack of evidence.
It was alleged that McLeanon on June 3, 2022, at Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara, not having a license to be a medical practitioner, provided himself to Bibi Hassan, as a person qualified to practice medicine, knowing the same to be false.
McLeanon was on bail in the sum of $80,000.
The Beterverwagting youth became social media famous after the Guyana Cancer Foundation issued a statement distancing itself from McLeanon who was reportedly performing duties as a ‘Doctor’ while volunteering with the organization.
McLeanon was seen in several photos, dressed in medical attire, performing tests and other medical practices. His qualifications however came into question after his Curriculum Vitae was found to be riddled with inaccuracies; including a Medical Doctorate from the University of Guyana and his attendance at Queens College.
After all the public backlash, McLeanon took to social media and apologized for being an imposter. This was soon met with criminal proceedings.
