A vendor was arrested on Wednesday for being in possession of 390 grams of marijuana at Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.
The arrest was made at approximately 05:00hrs after police officers received information and went to the vendor’s house. Upon arrival, the officers contacted the 38-year-old vendor and informed him of the information they had received. The vendor allowed the officers to search his home.
During the search, the officers found a bulky black plastic bag on the ground next to the vendor’s bed. Upon opening the bag, the officers found a quantity of cannabis. The vendor admitted ownership of the narcotics.
The police then arrested the vendor and escorted him to the Parfaite Harmonie Police Station, where the cannabis was weighed in his presence and amounted to 390 grams. The marijuana was placed into a transparent plastic evidence bag, sealed, marked, and lodged with the Station Sergeant for safekeeping.
The vendor was placed in custody, pending further investigation. He is expected to face charges soon. In his caution statement, the vendor stated: “Sir, the weed is me own I does hussle it”.
