The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has removed the names of two persons, as per their requests, from the list of candidates submitted by the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) on Nomination Day.
The notification was made via letters dispatched to Tiffany Goulding and Amelia Ramroop.
Over the past few days, there have been accusations of improper conduct/activities on Nominations Day from both sides of the political arena. Among the accusations was that of electoral fraud where a number of persons were listed as nominators only to later deny ever signing a document to this effect.
GECOM has reportedly launched an investigation into the incidents.
