UK conglomerate TechnipFMC has secured a substantial contract with Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited (EEPGL), ExxonMobil’s local affiliate, to supply the subsea production system for the US$12.7B Uaru project in the Stabroek Block. That development is set to come on stream in 2027 and produce over 800 million barrels of oil during a 20 year cycle.

The contract to TechnipFMC encompasses project management, engineering, and manufacturing, in addition to providing 44 subsea trees, 12 manifolds, and the associated controls and tie-in equipment.

Jonathan Landes, President of Subsea at TechnipFMC, expressed his pride in continuing his company’s relationship with ExxonMobil Guyana, stating, “This is ExxonMobil Guyana’s first project utilizing our Subsea 2.0™ system, which leverages our configure-to-order model to deliver on an accelerated schedule.” This award marks the fifth for TechnipFMC within the Stabroek block, with the company having operated in Guyana since 2016.

Moreover, TechnipFMC has pledged to employ and train more locals to support the project’s execution, which will further add to the company’s current 100 Guyanese workforce. As a leading provider of technology to traditional and new energy industries, TechnipFMC operates through two business segments: Subsea and Surface Technologies.

TechnipFMC has also been awarded a contract for the Wales Gas to Energy Project in Guyana. In this contract, the company will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of subsea risers and pipelines, which will connect the production from Liza Destiny and Unity floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels back to shore.

Additionally, the project will deliver associated gas from the field to the gas-fired power plant that will supply electricity to the community.
