Tulsiram Persaud, called ‘Naresh’, a 40-year-old labourer of Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast, was charged with the offence of Larceny in a Dwelling House, Contrary to Section 187 of the Criminal Law Offences Act, Chapter 8:01.
The incident occurred between April 13 and 15, 2023 at Lot 70 Para Street, Anna Regina. The premises is that of his father, 72-year-old, Earl Persaud. The defendant appeared yesterday virtually at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court, before Magistrate Esther Sam, where he entered a guilty plea. He was sentenced to two years imprisonment.
UPDATE: Guyana Standard confirmed with the Guyana Police Force (GPF) that Tulsiram was charged with stealing GYD$100,000 and US$200.
