Police are investigating the alleged murder committed on Terry Washington, a 47-year-old Carpenter who resided at Lot 60 D’Urban Street Lodge, Georgetown. The incident occurred sometime between 10:00 hrs and 16:15 hrs yesterday.
Enquiries disclosed that around 10:00 hrs, Washington was in his yard when an argument ensued between himself and another man working on a building presently under construction, situated about fifty meters east of Washington’s residence.
As the argument escalated, two men entered Washington’s yard by jumping an eight-foot-high fence.
A confrontation ensued between Washington and the two men. This alteration lasted for about fifteen minutes, during which Washington was beaten to his head and body, causing him to receive injuries. The suspects then made good their escape by jumping the eastern fence. Later yesterday, at around 16:15 hrs, Washington was found lying motionless in the yard with a gaping two-inch wound to the centre of his head.
Police were called in, and investigators processed the scene. Several persons in the area were questioned.
Washington’s was escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where it he was formally pronounced dead.
The body was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Investigations are in progress.
