Joel DePeazer, 38, of Port Kaituma Water Front, North West District was charged on Monday with the following offences:
a) Possession of Narcotic Contrary to Section 4 (1) (a) (i) of the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substance (Control) Act 10:10 (4.1 grams);
b) Disorderly Behaviour at Station Contrary to Section 136 (b) of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act Chapter 8:02;
c) Threatening Language Contrary to Section 141(a) of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act Chapter 8:02;
d) Assault Peace Officer Contrary to Section 28 (a) of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act Chapter 8:02 and;
e) Resisting Peace Officer Contrary to Section 28 (b) of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act Chapter 8:02.
He appeared at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court via Zoom before Principal Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty where the charges were read to him and he pleaded guilty to the offence of Possession of narcotics and was sentenced to eight hours of community service.
Thereafter, a not-guilty plea was entered for the four other charges and bail was granted in the sum of $40,000 in total for the four charges.
The matters were adjourned to July 21 for statements.
